Mea culpa.
Having been tossed about on the edges of burn-out for sometime, I sought to remedy things with a two-week hiatus and now find myself at the keyboard once again.
I’ve been a reporter at heart since high school and was in the news biz as newspaperman and media relations manager for almost 20 years counting college… once an ink-stained wretch, you are always so.
Trust me, reporting on Watergate was easier than writing about what’s been happening the last three years. Having worked through all that in the early 70s I look back and wonder what the fuss was about compared to now. Richard Nixon was never a threat to the country, he was a threat to himself and paid the price.
The real threat then as now is the far-left, and looking back over these 40 years it is clear we have lost far more as a nation than we have gained.
Nixon never split the country along class or racist lines…. he hated communists and his enemies… they (domestic far more than foreign) hated him right back. Tricky Dick was deposed and the nation picked up and moved on, following the road map handed down to us by the greatest leaders in world history; the transition was flawless.
Look at our nation now.
This is not about party affiliations… that has been relegated to the dustbin of political history.
On the right there are conservatives, libertarians and RINOs (the latter of should just give it up and become democrats).
The left is more schizophrenic: I firmly believe there are no more democrats of the Tip O’Neill, Walter Mondale, Sam Rayburn-type; they are all dead or senile. That leaves “democrats” who are life-long liberals, having remained unchanged since the Sixties, and who continue to think feel and think (sic) just as they did as teenagers.
We might call them “Can’t we all just git along?” Rodney King-types:
They play their Joan Baez records and pride themselves on raising their kids without toy guns…. the pinnacle of liberal parenting success (a statistical tie with no refined sugar).
Next are those who refuse to grown-up, learn, mature and test their beliefs. For this class anyone who hates America is a kindred spirit.
I monitored this FB conversation of this type recently :
Californyun 20/30-sumthing #One: Hey! If you are going to Occupy LA try to find me, I’ll be there tonight from 4 (we’re meeting in Pershing sq.) to whenever things die down (there’s a plan to march to City Hall). Hope to see you! 😉
Californyun #Two: Are you going to Occupy for a while? I am very proud of you, be careful, do not get hit. Those Billy clubs hurt more than you’d think.
Californyun #Three: God I hope there are more casual pepper spray cops.
I added this: “You know the radical left hates you as “the bourgeois” don’t you? Or has it been awhile since the obligatory Marxist theory class at dear ole UC@Fillintheblank” In Marxist theory the bourgeois is the class that, in contrast to the proletariat or wage-earning class, is primarily concerned with property values.
“What with rapes and murders and child molesters, TB, Hep C, raw sewage, drug dealers and homeless scumbags…. you shouldn’t worry much about police batons and pepper-spray and all that “I’m so tough” faux bravado. It’s not like you’re headed to Iwo Jima…. or did you even get close enough to see anything???”
See what I mean? These are the offspring of the 60s crowd; they vote to a certain extent but don’t represent a great percentage of the current population.
That leaves us with the doctrinaire, more hard-core leftist radicals, Saul Alinsky devotees, community organizers, unionists, ACORN and the political thugs like Bill Daly, prima ballerina Rahm Emanuel and the Chicago machine.
The poli-thugs are the dangerous capos of the left-wing revolution. Dangerous because they have spent decades organizing and manipulating the dregs of society to do their political bidding in exchange for the crumbs off their table… true of all revolutionary movements, they are the ones who starve and die as cannon fodder while the Obamas lead fabulous, rich lives sucking their money from the soul-killing labor of the middle class.
It boils away to this: We are fighting all the above to get America back to the nation it was at its founding, based on the laws found in the divinely-inspired Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Without we traditionalists, America is nothing more than the next European Union.
The Founders weep.
And now we have an administration that I firmly believe, hates this country and is going about dismantling the borders, betraying our allies, arming our enemies, stealing our treasure, and doing everything that they can to destroy this country. If there were those with eyes willing to see in power, or those with a keen love of country, perhaps we could halt the destruction that is being inflicted upon us.
We have one chance left to halt the course we are on, I believe, and that is to make sure that those we elect in 2012, are who they say they are and have the courage of their convictions!
“Having worked through all that in the early 70s I look back and wonder what the fuss was about compared to now. Richard Nixon was never a threat to the country, he was a threat to himself and paid the price.”
While I would agree that “now” is a mess – for causes attributable to the current administration and to administrations going back to LBJ, I refuse to let Nixon and his cabal of henchmen off with merely “never a threat to his country.” Economically, he was not a threat. Constitutionally, he was scary. Only first-rate reporting and Congress stopped him/them before far worse damage was done. He paid the price for one reason: he deserved it.
Hap
Nixon paid the price.
Today’s liberal? Hell, THEY get re-elected.
Would you rather have Nixon, or today’s filth ruling over a dim rabble.
I pick Nixon.
I detested Tricky Dick, the kind of guy who wore black socks and wingtips to the beach. But I’d take him in a NY minute over any one of the frothing socialists currently passing themselves off as ‘Democrats.’ Hell, compared to that pack of swine, even old Humbert Humphrey would be mistaken for a right-winger.
Yep – HHH over today’s Commies in a landslide,
I’ll go you one better: I’d even prefer McGovern.
Thank GOD you’re back at the keyboard. This is the most concise description of the left I have read all year.
“The poli-thugs are the dangerous capos of the left-wing revolution.
